Meet our Sussex Technician

Sussex Saxophone Technician

Amy started playing clarinet aged 13 and decided to combine her enjoyment of playing music with her curiosity into how things worked when leaving school. Like Mark and Lewis she trained at the Newark School of Woodwind Repair and joined the Sax.co.uk team in 2009. Over her time here she has gained a wealth of experience across the saxophone family and enjoys working on vintage instruments bringing them back to life. As head of the service department she continues to repair as well as making sure everything runs smoothly across both workshops.

Meet The London Technicians

London Saxophone Technician - Lewis

Lewis Mace Started playing saxophone at 18 years old and after two years of playing decided to go back to college to study music, completing one year of popular music and then two years of Jazz. Then after spending time playing Soprano, Alto, Tenor and even Baritone in different bands he became inspired watching his local repairer and decided that he would like to learn to make and repair woodwind instruments. He proceeded to enroll at Newark college where he studied Woodwind Making & Repair, hand building a complete Boehm system clarinet and leaning to repair and maintain all the woodwind family and also studying Engineering and tool making where he learnt to make his own tools.

London Saxophone Technician - Mark

Mark has been working at the London store since it first opened in Denmark street after completing The Woodwind making and repair course at Newark. He is the longest serving member of the London staff and over this time has gained many years of valuable experience working with a wide range of horns from many different eras. He particularly enjoys restoring vintage horns and key-work modification.
