Description
A great sax for players wanting character and individuality.
A fully professional instrument with a tone reminiscent of the old Conn and Buescher saxes of the 1940s.
Description
The most striking feature of this saxophone is its tone holes. The SX90R uses tone hole rings which are soldered onto the standard drawn tone holes. The tone hole rings give the pads a longer life, and the rings themselves are easier to replace if necessary because they are a piece separate from the tone hole. The production of a darker, more immediate sound is an added benefit of the tone hole rings, which allow the musician to form his own individual voice.
A few other SX90R features that set it aside from its competitors include:
A larger bell and bow section - up to 30% larger giving the sax its characteristic BIG sound.
Adjustable palm keys – many players are dissatisfied with the fixed position of palm keys and fit risers to compensate.
G# key lifter - so it never sticks – solving the most common saxophone problem.

Review
The SX90R is long established as one of the World's best saxes...and just a little different from its main competitors. While others followed the French route, Keilwerth developed along the more vintage American lines of Conn & Buescher. The end result is a sax that feels a bit bigger in your hands - well because it is! Don't worry, you soon get used to it and the benefits in sound are literally huge! To hear what a Keilwerth can do have a listen to Dave Liebman, James Moody, Nick Brignola, Ernie Watts, and Kirk Whalum. Phill (Sax.co.uk)
