Description
Following in the footsteps of the successful alto and soprano Concept mouthpieces, Selmer have now produced the tenor version. Suitable for Classical music, this mouthpiece has the design and acoustics to give the player that warm, defined and precise sound..
The design of this mouthpiece is a little different from the S80 (the "go to" classical mouthpiece) in that it features a round chamber, a slightly longer facing curve and duckbill style beak. The tip opening is set at 2.10 mm, which equates to a Selmer D. This could be considered the optimum opening for classical players, hence why Selmer have gone for this specifically.
Features:
• Material: Ebonite
• Made In: Selmer Paris
• Chamber: Round chamber, medium.
• Baffle: Low
• Ligature: Not included
• Manufacturing Method: Moulded, hand finished
• Recommended for: Classical playing, all levels.
Reviews:
As a way of placing this mouthpiece in the context of the other classical mouthpieces I compared it to the Selmer S80 C** and found strong similarities, but at the same time it contained a little extra spread and richness. Overall, the sound is very defined and clean, and you need to play at least a strength 3 Vandoren to offer enough resistance to counter the smaller tip opening. Selmer have done a great job overall, and I’m sure this mouthpiece will now be top of the list for those classical tenor players. - Jim (Sax.co.uk)
