The journey began with Wolfe Taninbaum, the designer of the original BARI reeds and mouthpieces, a musician renowned for his performances in orchestras like Les Brown, Benny Goodman, and Jimmy Dorsey. Wolfe's impact extended beyond playing; he played a pivotal role in creating a distinctive facing for alto and tenor mouthpieces, known as the "WT," later adopted by Otto Link. This facing produced a sought-after dark, husky resonance that commanded high prices. Today's WT II and WT III mouthpieces represent enhanced iterations of the original design, offering you the opportunity to achieve that coveted sound with BARI-branded mouthpieces.
