Who Plays it?

The groundbreaking Versa-X is for any serious player seeking the ultimate in a high-performance ligature with universal appeal. Its performance-enhancing attributes shine in any musical setting. Classical players most often choose to cover the cradle, but for those times when acoustics are poor, or when the orchestra is overpowering the soloist, exposing the cradle offers unexpected benefits. Conversely, jazz/rock/blues players performing in amplified settings generally prefer an exposed cradle, but when the setting is intimate or a ballad is on the set list, a covered cradle offers added warmth for soulful expression. Finally, the Versa-X received a "Best Tools for Schools" honor at NAMM '12. High school and college-level players are thrilled with the Versa X's ability to take them from the football field to the concert hall with a simple flip of the flaps.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE

HARD RUBBER/PLASTIC MOUTHPIECES

If you have a standard sized hard rubber or plastic mouthpiece (such as a Yamaha 4C or Selmer C*), you will want to select the following sizes: 

• Soprano = X-1RVS
• Alto = X-1RL
• Tenor = X-2R
• Baritone = X-3R (except in the case of Otto Link, Meyer, Vandoren V16 and other slimmer style baritone mouthpieces)

METAL MOUTHPIECES

Metal mouthpieces can vary a lot in size depending on the brand, but the majority of well known manufacturers will take the following sizes: 

• Alto = X-1M
• Tenor = X-2M
• Baritone = X-3ML

The main exception to this rule is Metal Otto Links, which take the following sizes: 

• Alto = X-3ML 
• Tenor = X-3ML
• Baritone = No size available. We recommend the Rovner Dark "3MVL"

Please Note: Despite Rovners extensive list of options, there are occasionally mouthpieces where the correct size is not immediately obvious. This is particularly true of baritone and bass mouthpieces, which can vary in size considerably depending on make.
