Description
Great opportunity to pick up an older classic!
Experience the ultimate expression of the vintage, smoky jazz sound. The Theo Wanne Ambika 3 hard rubber tenor mouthpiece is meticulously engineered for players seeking the deepest, darkest, and most velvety tone possible. Crafted from premium, vintage-style hard rubber, it captures the classic 1940s New York Otto Link vibe while delivering modern consistency and impeccable intonation.
Featuring Theo Wanne’s proprietary True Large Chamber and a classic low baffle equipped with aerodynamic Shark Gill technology, the Ambika 3 provides a fat, round, and incredibly focused core sound that blends seamlessly into any traditional jazz context.
How it Differs From the Newer Ambika IV
While both versions share the same premium hard rubber material and dark tonal philosophy, the Ambika 3 offers a slightly different playing experience than the updated version 4:
-
Chamber Profile: The Ambika 3 utilises a traditional round True Large Chamber, which delivers a highly focused, classic vintage core. The Ambika IV replaces this with a wider Large-Stadium-Chamber™ for an even broader, beefier bottom-end.
-
Baffle Mechanics: The Ambika 3 features a smooth, straight low baffle designed for standard airflow resistance and deep warmth. The Ambika IV introduces a complex, CNC-machined Wave-Baffle™, which adds a layer of subtle harmonic sparkle and quicker response in the upper register.
-
Resistance & Projection: The Ambika 3 provides a more traditional, slightly resistant blowing feel that vintage enthusiasts love for shaping notes, whereas the Ambika IV is optimised for enhanced projection and a more open, free-blowing dynamic range.
