BABBITT'S REPLICA OF THE LEGENDARY NEW YORK MEYER ALTO MOUTHPIECE.

Enter the timeless realm of the bebop era with the classic alto piece that defined an era. This distinguished mouthpiece not only embodies the essence of that musical epoch but also stands as a testament to Meyer's commitment to excellence. Known for its impressive dynamic range, this alto piece transcends sonic boundaries, effortlessly transitioning from warm huskiness to a pure, bright projection—qualities synonymous with Meyer's renowned craftsmanship.

In contrast to the standard Meyer, the NY model introduces a subtle yet distinct nuance to your sound. The NY offers a slightly darker, more textured tone, adding depth and character to your musical expression. It serves as a sonic palette for musicians seeking versatility and a nuanced tonal palette in their performances.

To complement this exquisite piece, each NY alto mouthpiece is shipped with an elegant bespoke ligature, meticulously designed to replicate the vintage Brilhart aesthetic. This ligature not only enhances the visual appeal of the mouthpiece but also pays homage to the timeless design that has inspired generations of musicians.

In summary, the Meyer NY alto mouthpiece transcends the boundaries of time, capturing the essence of the bebop era while offering a modern touch. STAFF REVIEW

On first examination this didn’t seem significantly different from the standard Meyer design but as soon as I started playing it immediately offered something noticeably new. There’s a warmth here that set it apart- a huskiness that made me think this piece was combining the best features of a Link Tone Edge and a standard Meyer. The easy responsiveness was all present and correct, together with the ringing projection if pushed but the NY can be pulled further back- there’s more going on at the darker end of the ‘piece’s spectrum. Particularly in lower register there’s a more textured tone, simply more to ‘get your teeth into’ sound wise but still with a big sound. For a versatile jazz piece this really seems to tick all the boxes- easy- and enjoyable- to play, offering depth but not at the expense of clarity. - Jim - Sax.co.uk
